Life Story / Your Memories

Little Ellie died yesterday.
Vet Jessica did a wonderful job that Ellie died with me saying I love you in her ear. It was so fast and so nice.
Prior to that happening though. I had a very distressing night with her. At 11pm she came into the kitchen and I thought she had put her face into the bowl of whiskas cat food. But to my horror her face was covered in her own blood, and her front legs were red with blood as well.  Further to my horror I found it pouring out of her mouth.
For the next 2 hours she continued this way. she was restless so I stayed with her and followed her to make her clean and comfy.
I didn't think she would make it to morning. but thankfully she stopped haemorrhaging, and comfortably settled for the rest of the night.
the next day I put her in the car to go to the vet to have her put down.

Extended Information

My starter motor went!  Yay I thought, lets all go back inside.
I was fooling myself I know.  It just seemed like she was getting a reprieve.   :-)

Not for long though, a mate around the corner came around, and I was actually very glad I didn't have to go through this alone, and off we went again to the vets.

Afterwards, she looked so relaxed and settled, and I realised just how unsettled she was when she was alive.
Ellie is now resting under my beautiful shady gum tree.
She was born Jan or Feb 1994, and had spent her 1st year twice being placed at the animal aid shelter as an unwanted cat.
The day I came to "visit" she was just about to be picked up by the vet and be put down.
The staff took her out to a grassy logged section to give her a bit of freedom, and I saw how she just leaped and loved being let out  to play about. She played with her ears laid back and  black eyes, leaping on logs and playing hidey in the grass.
I left the animal aid shelter that day on  2nd Feb 95 with a little cat in a cardboard box.
And every day since  has been  wonderful. she had the best life and I was very glad to have given it to her.

Ellie was gorgeous!! I also lost my sweet Collie in March of this year & she too rests under a Japanese Maple in my yard. Like Ellie, she was a stray that came into my life & filled it with hours of play, joy and love. Ellie looks so relaxed in her basket - I know she appreciated your care, love, companionship. My Collie girl never got to a point where she was docile; she was always independent, she would bite [hard!] if she had enough petting or loving, we could only cut her nails if she was in deep sleep...but the way she'd look at you, smell my hair or lick my hand, I knew that she loved us and was happy to have found a home in ours. In time, things will get better. It took a long time for me to get over Collie [who had been a long time diabetic & died of mammary tumors]- having other pets helps. Around the time that Collie got really sick, another stray, Peanut, appeared at our back door. Now, when I think of Collie, I nuzzle Peanut, who is a total suck, and know that she's OK
